What We Never Do

The full privacy policy is at theschoolbuddy.ai/privacy. It is written in plain language and it is honest. But it's also long, because it has to be.

So here is the short version. Six promises. None of them have asterisks.

1. We never read emails that aren't from a school.

Our AI is trained to look at sender domains, subject lines, and content patterns to identify school emails — and ignore the rest. Your Amazon receipts, your work email, your Marie Kondo newsletter — we don't touch any of it.

2. We never store the full content of your emails for more than 30 days.

We pull a school email in, we extract the date, location, and action item, and we put the summary in your digest. After 30 days the original email body is permanently deleted from our systems. The summary stays so you can scroll back through your digests. The raw email does not.

3. We never share your email content with anyone.

Not advertisers. Not data brokers. Not your school. Not Google itself, beyond the read access you gave us. The only third parties who briefly see your email content are the ones we need to do the job — Anthropic (the AI that does the extraction) and Twilio (which delivers your SMS). Both are contractually forbidden from doing anything else with it.

4. We never use your email content to train AI.

We don't run our own AI model — we use Claude, made by Anthropic. Anthropic's contract with us prohibits them from training their AI on anything we send through their API. We have it in writing. We won't change this.

5. We never ask for your password.

You connect School Buddy through Google's standard "Sign in with Google" flow. Google holds your password — we don't see it, we don't store it, we couldn't if we wanted to. You can revoke our access in one click at myaccount.google.com/permissions and we will lose all access to your inbox instantly.

6. We never make you fight to leave.

Your account has a "Delete everything" button. One click. We delete your account, your data, and your backups within 30 days. No retention emails. No "are you sure?" pop-ups. No customer-success rep trying to win you back. If you're done, you're done.
